Being a Computing Engineer

As computing engineers, we aim to use technology to enhance our learning across a range of subjects.            Our vision is to engage, enable and empower all pupils as computing engineers to create positive educational change.  We believe in equipping children with the skills needed to thrive throughout their education and beyond.

Our Computing Curriculum focuses on the skills that children need to effectively prepare them for the future in an ever-changing world.

Corsham Primary believes that the Internet offers a valuable resource for teachers and children.        Although it is recognised that there are risks that children may gain access to material which is inappropriate,  our filtering and monitoring procedures enable us to create a safe space for children to explore digital opportunities.  Our Acceptable Use Policy sets out the measures taken to minimise these risks in more detail.

We understand that we have a responsibility not only to protect and safeguard our pupils when they are using the internet in school but also to educate them about the potential risks of the internet so they are able stay safe online outside of school.  We do this though:

• Teaching students how to evaluate what they see online
• Teaching basic safety tips that can be applied to different internet platforms or apps  
• Teaching internet safety regularly
• Teaching students where to go for help
• Teaching students how to identify online risks
• Ensuring children know how to use the internet responsibly, respectfully and safely

 The ‘zip it, flag it, block it’ e-safety scheme supports us with this.
